Wow, it's been roughly 18 months since I last wrote one of these, perhaps my longest ever absence. Not that I was ever fully absent, I've dropped by every now and then to comment and :+fav:, I even submitted a deviation or two. That's nearly one a year. But what have I been up to? Well, the quick answer is "not much". This year has basically been a repeat of the last - trying to learn 3D modelling, and branching out into new areas of aesthetic and expression. Except that like the last year, it's been a bit of a dissapointment. 3D modelling is like a can of worms, burried down the rabbit hole, covered in enigma sauce and guarded by Chuck Norris. Once you try and take it a bit further, you suddenly find yourself spiralling into oblivion, with growing questions, no answers, and a man with a beard and an Uzi trying to kill you. But regardless, I did get a result. So if I thought I was close to succeeding last year, I'm a hell of a lot closer this time. You may even see the results by next year. That is, unless you haven't been watching my scraps gallery already....

Also on a 3D note, I've again attempted to get a place in a university course with 3D as a main focus. One of these courses however set a specific task to perform, which set the gray matter into overdrive, and my wallet into meltdown. Rather than just submitting a selection of existing work, the task was to take a given theme from the pre-selection kit (including 'Jump!', 'It came from above' and 'Lost'), and create a story through images, without any words or text. After about three weeks of putting it off, and a whole 5 minutes of planning, I chose option D - 'Last Chance'. A good friend of mine, ~MaximusDamage, had already roped me into helping him with a little side project of his, a photo of a TV being thrown out of home, to make way for new technology. The penny dropped, and suddenly one frame was being transformed into 10, with my usual blend of grandiose ambition and little else. The result? Well, you can see it for yourself: [link]

Now I just have to sit and wait, and hope that I myself get a last chance at moving onwards and upwards in life. With a new camera and lens kit arriving in the next week or so, I may even get back to some basic photography for a while. But in the mean time, check out the quirky, bizzarre and downright...bizzarre world of :iconmaximusdamage:. He didn't pay me to say that, either. Honest.

yo u wouldnt happen to know what features in a camera/what kind of camera are/is best for taking pictures in the dark.

All the night time pics i took recently came out mostly all black with a few spots of light (from lights)?

er, well, before you master night photography, mastering day photography is generally a good idea. But to answer your question, a large sensor, a decent image processor that can produce clean images beyond ISO 400 (and without mandatory noise reduction), the ability to change settings like shutter speed and aperture, a long enough minimum shutter speed (and preferably a 'bulb' setting, where you click to open and click to close when you want). BTW do you use msn?
